11th Annual PRR Modeler's Needs Assessment Survey

Every November, the Keystone Crossings site -- primarily through the PRR-talk mailing list -- conducts an Annual PRR Modeler's Needs Assessment Survey.

The survey asks respondents to list their top three desired models in each of several categories, including steam power, diesel power, electric power, freight rolling stock, passenger rolling stock, etc.

Ballots are typically available for one week and are then summarized on PRR-talk and on the Keystone Crossings web site.

Summaries are also sent to several dozen manufacturers. Though our survey is unscientific, and doesn't take into account quantities each modeler may desire, we have noted that each year many of our top desires are announced as products within 12-18 months. So perhaps this data provides a "pulse point" to the industry.

The 11th annual survey is now open. Ballots will be accepted November 18-25, 2007. If you would like to receive a ballot, please e-mail jerry at pennsyrr at com.

In the results you put a note that Kato announced that they will be making the GG-1.

I see that the announcement was made in July, but I can not find the actual pic or announcement.

Does anybody have a picture or copy of the announcement?

It's on their semi-annual poster. The actual part numbers/prices haven't been announced yet, though I expect we will hear pretty darn soon!

The whole Broadway Limited project was pushed back a year.  The Daylight flooded them with preorders, so it's coming later so they can build enough of them.  I think someone mentioned that the Broadway pre-orders weren't going as well, so they may bring something else out first.

Of course pre-orders for the Broadway aren't going well... they haven't announced part numbers, so nobody can order anything!!!

Because of the ability to re-use the cars for other trains, I may be purchasing as many as 10 sets for myself, depending on how the sets are arranged. Then there are xx number that my business may sell. So there are several dozen sets I can account for that they don't know about because they haven't issued part numbers.

No, I don't think pre-orders has anything at all to do with it. The popularity of the Daylight likely does have an effect though.
