You, Chris, and Ian are all correct. I did have a #10 cd55 Fast Track fixture a few years ago, but I sold it when Atlas announced their #10.

Now that I am dabbling in HO narrow gauge, I will probably purchase another one. Good thing is I signed up for the sales program so I can get a percentage off the retail cost! Once I have the fixture I'll adjust may drawings to fit the PC tie spacing so I can make my own turnout tie strips.

Nice work! None of the options available today were available when I was handlaying, so frogs and points had to be made from rail. I made my own primitive jigs. But when a handy tool comes along it makes sense to use it if you plan to hand lay in quantity.

While I know that this is HO board I'm hand laying code 55 in N

I really like the look of the Proto 87 spikes and was wondering if you could point me in the right direction to find out some more about them

I'm using ME spkies at present here's a couple of pics.

You want the scale spikes, not the 150% scale ones. They easily pass through pine ties.

I tried hand lay N code 55, with spikes, I never liked the results. I also tried using walthers goo to glue the rail to the ties. It didnt hold .. I think maybe soldering is the best idea

You could also try the Pliobond/soldering iron trick. I didn't have the best luck with it, but others have reported success. Me, I stick with soldering.

this is my first layout and I've only been modelling for 2 yrs

I like the look spkiing gives and I'm quite happy with the results I have got
But in saying that so far I have 9ft done so far
