Hello,
I am trying to get going on a switching layout. I would like to date it in the late 1940s to early 50s since I like the look of older wood and brick structures. I considered late 50s simply because I have a sw1200 but I want to have a fuel dealer with a coal dump. How late did fuel dealers with coal realistically operate?
Here is the plan. First thing that sticks out to me is the crossover on the left. I added it so I would be able to park some rolling stock but it just doesn't look right. Fuel dealer is the spur at the bottom left. Shallow buildings to the backdrop at the top. The blue building is a Bar Mills kit I placed to help keep things honest. Other background kits are not as deep. The curved switch on the right is a 24/ 28 inch radius with the outside leading to a temporary staging track and the inside will be for future expansion (in the unlikely event I get past cutting plywood. All straight switches are #6 and the grid lines are 12 inch.
I can't post pics yet since I don't have enough posts. I blame my Mom because she always told me to shut up.
