Kato kobo speaker?

Does anyone know what speakers Kato Kobo uses? They are much smaller than a Loksound 50321 and sound pretty good for the size. Thanks

There are so many sizes and brands of those types of speakers out there available from electronic component suppliers that unless there are some usable markings or visual clues, it will be hard to tell where they got them.  But if you are just looking for any speaker with the same dimensions, than you will likely find one at one of those supplier (like Digikey or Mouser Electronics) websites.

See https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=54697.msg750304#msg750304 for a list of speaker specs for the speaker currently in my stash from Digikey (there are even more available).  You will likely see a speaker similar to the ones in that model.

Hopefully you have in your tool drawer an inexpensive digital caliper to take accurate measurements.  If not, I highly encourage you to get one.  I got mine from Harbor Freigth for aroudn $20.  It is an indispensable tool for our hobbies.

Thanks guys. I have one but need to find a battery as it went dead. I only opened the locomotive as I was curious if they were cutting off a portion of the rear weight on the frame. When I opened it I saw this smaller speaker. But being in the middle of putting a decoder in I popped the shell back on . I will take a measurement in the next day. Will have to try and find one similar to that as they sound decent and save on space

Dead battery?!  Likely LR44 (alkaline button cell). Any dollar store sells those batteries.  For longer life I use SR44SW (silver oxide batteries) in my calipers, but those are pricier and aren't available in dollar stores.

Does the Kato-installed speaker have an enclosure (sound chamber)?  If you buy a speaker from electronic suppliers they do not include enclosures (and enclosure is vital for producing good quality sound).

Thanks Pete. I guess it had some type of enclosure.  Likely similar to the sugar cube with the flat bottom attached. I will check out the website. Thanks for the link.
