Cordless soldering iron

I recently picked one of these up from DTO as a "I have to fix something inconvenient" tool.

I'm not planning on replacing my regular rig, but it DOES mean that I now don't have to move that rig off my workbench if a feeder gets loose on the layout, which I very much appreciate.

Yep, same here.  My normal workstation iron is so integrated into my workbench that it would take a lot of work to remove it. This thing being portable AND pluggable means it can go anywhere- even in my back yard or to a train show (in your case).

Make room for it in your DCC in a box thingie.

  I get it.. It's a traditional small work iron you can easily move it around when you need to solder on the go...   

This is what I think of when I hear cordless..


I love my Ryobi stuff.. It looks like a neat iron.. I finally got a chance to use my Haiko for the first time, and I love it..

Ryobi has a truly cordless soldering pencil which I'm thinking about but it's a bit pricy ($80.00 range.)
