I used stainless steel wire for the handrails on my Piggy Packer kit by N Scale of Nevada back in day. The kit was the first craftsman kit that I successfully built. Harder to solder stainless steel yes, but nearly indestructible when assembled.

What's your method/material for soldering stainless steel?

I've been using Tichy's 0.008" - 0.015" phosphor bronze wire for years, but I'd use stainless if it's not a terrible PITA to solder.  Never tried it.

Me too … really curious about soldering stainless steel.

Every element of my being is screaming “THAT should NOT be possible!”.

Possible, but this is treading into the realm of where you want an electronically controlled station, good flux, and a precision tip that can really dump the heat into a small area.
Or use a resistive unit.

Yes. I run my iron at ,ax temp for this type of thing.  Because of the heat involved, they would have to be soldered off-model anyway. A printed fixture would be very helpful.

Second chance for anyone who missed the first release of the kits. Got a update from WoT if they get enough emails they would do a second run of the FM kits, its posted on the bottom of the main page too.

I emailed to show my interest for a few more kits and Matt replied right away!

We do live in a good time to be a model railroader.

I also emailed! No response, but I've got my fingers crossed. I need a few of these to feed my FM addiction.
