Bachmann EM-1 Short

My Non-sound Bachmann EM-1 had one of the tender/loco pickup wires drop in between the drawbar post, obviously shorting the loco out, it now shorts out the layout and has no response, I am assuming it has fried the decoder or is there something on the board the decoder is soldered to that might fry first.

As Bachmann uses all black wires on their decoders is there any way to test them.

If this loco follows the same assembly as other Bachmann steamers The board will be marked where the wires attach as to where they go .  Example there should be a M+ M- L & R pickups and 2 for the lights .   Mike
