Why not just get the ESU 53900 LokTester V2.1 DCC Decoder Test Station with ESU E24 Interface . I only costs $44 at Streamlined Backshop (that is what I linked to.  It has all the popular connectors, and you can connect wires with test clips for wired decoders.  It even has the new ESU E24 connector that V5 nano uses. It has a speaker with selectable impedance, coreless motor with flywheels, and function indicator LEDs.  It can be used with any brand decoders.

I was planning on making my own, but with all the features you get for $44 (cost of a good motor-only decoder), I decided to get it.

CR4100, That might work for me- was looking to get just the white plastic plug if I could.
Peteski. I already have a decoder tester-this would let me test a loco that I have installed an 58828 decoder into.
The harness I wire in first, then the decoder. This would let me test with a non sound decoder before installing the sound decoder. Very tight space in the N scale installs.

Duh, you need the male half of the connector. The subject line mentioned "socket" (female) , so I guess I fixated on that. Ok.
