Decals Over Unpainted Shells?

Appreciate any input on this.

I have a few loco shells that are undecorated and would like to place decals in a few areas.

Any issues with decals adhering to the bare plastic?

Thanks

I've seen that done on old toys, decal will likely stick. Make sure to give the shell a good wash with warm water and dishwashing detergent first.
But why use bare plastic shells?  Bare plastic looks like . . . bare plastic. not very realistic for a scale model.

K4 decal instructions say their decals won't work on bare plastic

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

I will add, the few that I have done on Undec models. I wash them, after allowing them to dry, I spray a Gloss coat over them, allow that to dry and decal, finally it would get a dull coat. I have not had issues with any of the decals using this method and I figure that it was not directly on bare plastic so it was good.
