Requests allowed? Looking for Hancock air whistles for RDCs

Hi, I'm sure there are those of you who may be opposed to taking requests but I will ask anyway. I have been after some 3D printed Hancock air whistles for my Kato RDCs. I know there's a guy on Shapeways who has some in N and I have bought some, but my previous attempts to mount them on a post that fits into the slot on the RDC shells have proven poor. They are just too delicate when just glued on a post. I contacted the author about modifying his design to have an integrated mounting post but it seems he has gone inactive.

In any case, I am wondering if anyone here with the experience and equipment might be able to come up with something. I have yet to get my feet wet with printing myself (I don't really have space for the equipment and supplies), and I don't have much CAD experience. So I would be asking someone else to do all the work. If anybody is interested I can provide some reference material and measurements (though if you have a Kato RDC you'll have everything you need to figure it out).

I am not expecting many takers but you never know until you ask.

Rapido Trains made these for the FL9 locos and are available as spare parts, also what about the castings from Minatures by Eric.   I think I would be filling in the hole
on the Kato shells and remounting what you have on a brass wire or similar and then mounting to the shell.

Yup, Rapido has them available.

Sunrise Enterprises also made cast Hancock whistles parts back in the day (part# N-642), and they surface on eBay from time to time.  The Eric version is oversized in my opinion.

Yes I forgot to mention the Rapido ones; I hadn't realized they have them back in stock. Last time I went looking for them they were hard to find.

I have tried in the past to get a small wire into the Rapido whistles but their shape made it really hard to drill a hole at the correct angle. These are designed to mount on to the steeply sloped cab of the FL9s. I managed to lose one in the process and that's when I gave up. Maybe I just need a different plan of attack, but I'll admit I don't have any good ideas. I'm open to any suggestions!

Also seeing as I need 8 of these (4 RDCs) the prospect of printing a drop in part seems very worthwhile. Nothing is ever easy in this hobby is it?  :)

File the angled mount flat.  If not enough room to do that, epoxy the appropriate Evergreen strip to it, then cut and file flat.  Or, cut the mount off the Rapido part flush with the hood.  Add an appropriate mount to the RDC, then cement the Hancock part to that.

As a non epoxy user, is there a specific type you would recommend for this purpose (or in general?)

General use five-minute epoxy should be fine.
