Ed:  True, the current BNSF logo is rather boring.  I liked the original round one.

But, then, the company is no longer Burlington Northern Santa Fe, but simply BNSF, so the old herald doesn't fit anymore.

Oh yeah, but like, just come up with a better logotype. The current thing looks like "Word Art" or something that Powerpoint suggested while they were working on a deck.

I kind of like the swoosh on the freight cars. I didn't care for the round emblem but there still are plenty of them out there.

UP: Take the Harbor Mist Grey and extend it all the way down to the trucks, then make it a few shades darker. To contrast the dark grey, maybe apply a coat of red to the hood ends, then maybe add some red wings on the front extending from the red on the nose to commemorate the UP wings. Then, as a nod to UP's heritage, take the first name from the SP and the last name from the UP and WP and apply it to the flanks in a nice lettering grey.

And try to keep it clean: nothing like a factory fresh gray and scarlet.

I've said this before, but I think BNSF missed an opportunity when they bought their ES44-C4's to reintroduce the most iconic paint scheme in railroad history....the silver warbonnet.   They could have modified it with the Swoosh on the long hood.   The C4's were built for Intermodal service so it would have been a good fit, and served a purpose to help easily identify the units for the the power board.

To a lesser extent, (this is more of a "fan service" thing than an actual business purpose, although the Executive SD70MAC's were the trademark power on coal for two decades plus) I would have also applied the former BN Executive scheme to all of the coal power, namely the SD70ACe's, SD70MAC/AC4400 repaints, and ES44AC's--or at least a subset of them.   Everything else would get the current scheme.

They should do something to keep the red warbonnet alive , everytime there is and old Santa Fe unit in a lash up , it still attract the eyes and comments , agree with you also on BN exec scheme
Thanks ,
Louis

I would want to see CSX permanently switch to the B&O Heritage Scheme. CSX Capital Dome and all. Then again, I'm HIGHLY biased about the blue & gray.
