bachmann n scale streamline K4

I got #1120 last Wed. Been running it since pulling 9 Concor Lowey pass cars. Looks good. Must pain the tender deck freight car red. This one has a back up light on the tender deck and i'm pretty sure the sound is the same decoder that's in the NYC J3.  I set the chuff rate at V90 to get them in sinc.   She pulls the 9 up my 1.34 with ease.  Glad I got it but I wish they have done the first Lowey design. Much prettier engine then the cut down version.

@robertjohndavis , the way Bachmann tools the engine, the rear two wheels are geared, and the drive rods only connect to the front two wheels. IIRC, Rapido implied that by using gears instead of siderods to move the wheels, you get more pulling power and less stress on the mechanism. The way I see it, it's just one less spot for cat hair to collect, and it doesn't impact the model negatively in any way, as far as I can tell.

This design is similar to how Kato Mikados are designed.  The rear driver (with a TT installed) was internally geared and didn't have a crank pin (for ease of replacing the TT.  I think that Walthers 2-8-8-2 also used this design for ease of changing the TT.

Probably the best option would be Centralia Car Shops Pennsy cars in Fleet of Modernism paint schemes.  You could put together a streamlined Broadway Limited with their sleepers.  Diner is available too, but more of a stand in.  The Bachmann 85' smoothside observation is the right obs, but they haven't done Fleet of Modernism scheme on it in N scale.  Just HO.
