Rapido N etched metal end gates

Has anyone installed the etched end gates (Pullman style?) offered by Rapido in N scale? They look nifty at a cursory glance and with a red LED and a drumhead it would be killer. Maybe moreso with the vertical bar version used for Budd cars.

Thanks!

They’re pretty great. I bent the tabs in 90 degrees and it fit pretty well in this SP blunt end 10-6 project.

I have one in use on one of my MOW cars. I really like it.

Wow! They look snappy! Nice car end detailing too. Thank you for sharing those photos.

@Sokramiketes - how did that NYC combine come to be?  I was thinking it was a brass import, but the depth of the windows makes it appear to be plastic or resin.  Is that somehow bashed from an MTL single window coach or did you make sides from scratch?  Nice work, no matter how you did it.

I have a mind like a steel trap...a VERY rusty, old steel trap.

It's the MTL single window coach, with the center blanked out per prototype for a NYC Rider Coach.  And yes, the old ConCor style recessed window construction shows.  Maybe someone will do laser cut individual panes of acrylic someday, like AMB did in HO.  When I did the same conversion in HO, it was cool to model some windows open with that AMB window kit.

For the vestibule... lots of carving.  I wanted to show the floor over the step well flipped up, so that's a square of styrene and the brass handrail.  The other end of the car has the dutch doors open.
