Painting Wood Kits

I’m about to embark on assembling and painting a wooden kit from Osborne models and I have questions about painting it. In the past I’ve assembled a couple of wood kits which I painted with acrylics. Since my favorite brands of acrylic are no longer I’ve been using latex house paint on my plastic models with much success. I am wondering if latex will work on wooden kits without causing warping.

Id like to hear from someone who’s tried this. The latex is a wonderful replacement in my opinion as it dries thin , can be mixed to any color and costs pennies. A one pint sample cast $.99 at Home Depot. Just hoping it will work on wood.

Correction: should read half pint sample size.
