Now that's cool. Sure beats that infernal beep you hear on commercial trucks. I wonder if Ford's other E-products do the same. As soon as they get their mind right about decent range on the E-Transit we're all over it.

Speaking of that annoying backup-beep alert used on commerical trucks and construction equipment, I have noticed that many of the amazon delivery vans now have backup alert which sounds like a bird with a sore throat! Sick chirping sound.  When I first heard it I was like "WTF is that sound?!", but after hearing it few times I find it less annoying than the beeping.

Another thing I like to mention is that while sound in diesel locos is nice, sound in steam locos really makes our little models come to life!

There is such a variety of sounds in a steam loco:  Not only the chuffs, whistle and bell, there also are the dynamo, water injectors, and the air pump sounds.  Then there is the cylinder blow-down when you first start running, and labored chuffs, or coasting chuffs.  Some sound projects can also have rod clank, safety valve steam release, and probably few more things I missed.  It's really so much richer than diesel sounds.  I think you will like it.

I totally agree.  Listening to my FEF's, Big Boys, and Challengers coast into my yard with their rods clanking, sounding just like the prototypes, always makes me smile!  I don't have much experience with ESU Loksound steam sound decoders, but my SoundTraxx Tsunamis with the speakers in air-tight enclosures are "it" for me for steam sound.

But I know that tehachapifan is a big fan of sound decoders in his diesels, so I wanted to bring up the fact that steam sound it the cat's meow!  He also already put the feelers out for the GS4 sound install, so I knew what is in his cards.  I think he is really going to like to hear more than the the noise of meshing gears and the electric motor propelling the loco.

Silent electric vehicles are a safety hazard, especially to the visually-impaired.  Many of them now are being built to actually make noise at city speeds, so people trying to cross streets can hear them coming.

On the open road, there's no need for noise, as there shouldn't be too many pedestrians there.
