thanks and farewell to Briggs Models

Jeff Briggs has announced on his web store that he is stepping back from making his 3D print details and kits https://briggs-models.myshopify.com/

I've been a steady customer of Jeff's and have a pile of his kits and parts stashed away for future projects, and I've always found him (and Chris) very responsive and approachable.

Very best wishes to Jeff, I can certainly understand the desire to rebalance!

I hope there will be further news at some point to say that someone is picking up his line of products.

He should think about selling the STL files for those with 3D printers. He could add these to the online store he already has and set up some kind of automatic download.  Then the store would run itself almost.

People would just print them and sell them. Another fellow I know was literally giving away his STL files of beautiful CPR models with only the request that people don’t misuse his intellectual property. Almost right away the models showed up in classifieds for sale. So he locked it down and is now producing and selling them as kits for a fair but handsome price. All because of a few greedy f@&!$. This would end up being no different because even if most people do… there’s enough who don’t put a value on intellectual property and ruin it for those who do.

Dang. I was only thinking yesterday I should get some more coil cars for a rainy day and a bulkhead flat too. Oh well.

I'm glad I got my M420 and GP40-2LW while I had the chance. These were fantastic kits and I'm sad to think there will not be any more quirky products like this.

Damn, there were a few parts he had in HO, that he or Chris mentioned they could shrink to N if I had ordered them, but I just never did the ordering

Dang... been on the fence about the M-636 for a while, but the move to Iowa and business purchase been making me trigger shy. This really sucks.

I have a good number of his kits, including 10 or so M420's... a great kit. Some CP RS-18u's as well. Hopefully the line will return some day because the quality of his kits is top notch, and they go together easily enough that even I can do them.

This is sad. I am still trying to scrape the funds together to order the three RS27 bodies and log cars I wanted. Hopefully, the files will show up elsewhere (I know a guy in southern Oregon who would treat them with care) or "stepping back" means something akin to taking a brief break, returning soon.

What I don't get is he seemed so eager for new model ideas, like he wanted more business... But life happens.

That’s too bad.
I’d have liked more NP log cars but maybe down the road?
