Hey steam SPFs, have you seen this before?

Im on the scans of the day page on FB. Great stuff. That and a couple other MRR related things is all that keeps me there. Anyway saw this and had to bring it over. What do you think is the reason for this?

Rodney Peterson photo. PRR 4-8-2 M1-6815 is W/B next to the Susquehanna River. A person not paying any attention to 6815, perhaps a fisherman, can be seen to the left of 6815's pilot. I can't recall ever having seen two steam engines with tenders back to back like this. 5-19-55 in Duncannon, PA.

I guess the PRR stopped caring at the end.  Somewhere in the Prophet/Hastings/Shaughnessy type collections of photos books is a lash-up of 3 steam locomotives - 2 PRR (I forget if they're hippos or M1's) and a leased Reading T1, and the trailing unit is pointed pilot backwards.  The location was either Shamokin Branch or Elmira Branch.  - I'd have to ask the book owner for the specific details, can do if you're interested. -
