Shizuoka in Spring - a Z shorty micro layout

Hello everyone,

I've recently finished building a 20x20 cm Z shorty layout and thought I would share a video and some images. More photos and a layout building report can be found in the July 2020 issue of Trainini - see  https://www.trainini.de/download/Trainini_int_2020-07.pdf.

Cheers,

Chris

Nice work Chris!

Looks like Japan (& Shizuoka in particular) left a lasting impression on you.
The Trainini article is  great - I enjoyed both the detailed description of your layout & the copious amount of pages devoted to that funky rail bus.......It’s a great big modeling world out there.

really well done.

Watching the video I do have to point out it looks like the rail bus is drifting the curves as to goes around.  I am sure its an artifact for speed and radius, but it amused me.

And clearly, everyone has room for a layout.

It's like a Haiku of a layout. Really cool!

Fantastic, I love the attention to detail and craftsmanship.

I saw this the other day on youtube when, on a whim, I was looking at your T scale loop again. I wondered if you'd post it. Looks like you did, with an article to boot! Well done!

Well done Chris! Even your photography is excellent.

I had the pleasure of attending the Shizuoka Hobby Show, in 2005. I also visited Tamiya's headquarters, and Rainbow Ten hobby shop among other attractions.  It was one of the highlights of my life, and I will never forget that experience.

Quite an excellent layout you have built!

I really like your solution to the green tea hedges.

Thank you all for your very kind comments! I'm chuffed. Just to say that I had tremendous fun putting this little thing together. It even received approval from the family and has been allowed a permanent place in the living room; my biggest success in the hobby so far.

It does indeed look a bit like it's drifting. At 45mm, the radius is extremely tight.

It's like a Haiku of a layout. Really cool!

I like the Haiku analogy!

"A train going in circles
 under blossoming trees.
Girls plucking tea."

(Well, I'd better stick to modelling...)
