Hi ! Just joined up !

Hi fellow rails.
I just registered. Thanks for accepting me into the forum..I began with trains circa 1956, on Long Island until my family moved into Manhattan in 1963. First were American Flyer until I discovered HO. Though I kept one eye on it, my train enjoyment temporarily disappeared when girls and guitars began to take over my life. In fact I am today a retired professional bassist and back to playing classical and jazz guitar for myself and go in and out of giving lessons...Soon after I moved out to Los Angeles in about 1978 I joined the musicians local 47 and played lots of different types of jobs. One day as a nice gesture my father bought me an N scale set. This triggered my return to MRRing to a point of joining the East Valley Lines club in Griffith Park's Travel Town.. After a couple years there I changed to the Belmont Shore MRRC in San Pedro..Eventually I got tired of N and by taking out my remaining HO from childhood I flipped into that and eventually built a large switchback point to point layout in my apartment ! I then changed from analog power to an NCE PowerCab. I've had no layout since then (about 7 yrs ago) when new landlord forced me to move out so he could turn the duplex in a single family home (after my residing there, in SilverLake, some 20 years. Boy that hurt)....I now live in S.Pasadena,Ca. and am typing this in my favorite coffee hang...
I have been a member of 3 other train forums. But I came here because it looks to be more serious or finescale oriented than the others...

Welcome!    As an N-scaler I'm disappointed you switched to HO.  As a model railroader I'm delighted you are working in a scale  you are happy with!

Welcome to TRW ....  you are correct .. there are many excellent modeler here  .. and many are more than willing to help you.

Read all the boards, not just your scale. Good modeling is good modeling regardless of what scale you model.

I'd assume that goes away when you hit a certain # of posts..

As a new member I'd guess it's to make sure your not a computer trying to post fake stuff..

I was in HO then went to N but as of last spring I went back to HO. Welcome to the forum. I'll be sharing the progress on my HO layout construction.

Welcome to TRW.  I'm in HO scale as well, albeit in narrow gauge.  There are a few restrictions in place until you've made, I believe, 25 posts, these include things like not being able to add pictures to your post and not being able to access some of the forums.  This is to discourage bots, grievers and ad spammers I'm guessing.  Again welcome.

From one coffee shop denizen to another - welcome!  With your club pedigree I would think you have some fantastic modeling chops as there's been a ton of good stuff coming out of those clubs over the years.

So as a reformed HO'er, what's your favorite prototype?  Do you have a newly constructed layout in your new space?  Any prototype photos to share?
