Yesterday I received a new Atlas Russel Snow Plow. Today I started detailing it. I’ve lowered it, added a front coupler, brake line, light, and horn, aa well as fitting thinner running boards. I still need to fit the coupler lift bar, it’s rather prominent on the plow. The light came from a left over bit of Atlas GP9 shell, the horn from a Kato RS2. Oh, and FVM wheels.

Nice!

do the side doors (Not sure what to call them ) on the plow move out, looks like they are hinged

Negative... They are separate parts but glued in place...

I don't know what other roads called the "side doors", but I've usually heard them called "wings" in the Northwest.  They're not "doors" at all, the side is solid behind them, but rather are used to widen the cut.  Otherwise one would end up with a gap in the snow the same width as the plow itself, and the snow would be rubbing the sides of the train.

Living in an area where even the county road crews didn't have snowplows (too dry) I've never actually seen a railroad plow in use.  I don't know if they would be used on the first pass, or on a second pass, after the track itself was cleared.

Yes, they're "wing plows" in the East, too.

Dave:
That roundhouse/turntable complex looks great.
Do you plan on adding a pole at each end of the turntable
so the guys can 'armstrong' it around?

A lost Siskiyou Southern train somehow made it to Playa Desnuda from the almost great State of Jefferson…who knows how….

MARPM 2019 was a great success. There were great clinics, op sessions and open houses.  I saw some of the Railwire netizens at the meet.

There were a lot of N Scale items in the raffle this year.  We are going to do it again next year, so mark your calendars now.  It will be about the same time of the year as this next year.
