Help with Streamlined Passenger Car Trucks

Hi everyone.

I'm in the process of putting together some passenger trains for the NKP (with the help of OldEastRR, who is modifying some stuff to NKP prototype).  Our first project was an NKP 10-6 sleeper, one of which is pictured here:

I don't know anything at all about passenger equipment, and I need to get some 4-wheel trucks for a couple of these sleepers.  Couplers will be body-mounted.

What trucks do I need to buy???

I’ve always preferred Kato truck for my passenger cars. Super free rolling with electrical pick up if you want.

Smooth side truck with no coupler for the observation is what you want I think. They have other options in black and silver with couplers too.

You are probably basing this on the old Rowa 10-6, which is a really nice car.
I used Microtrains trucks on mine, which are a little undersized (and have 33" wheels) but work very nicely with this car.

Then look at styles like GCS 41-N.    Some are nice, some are awful (like Model Power).  Some are very nice - I think the Rapido and Walthers trucks are the nicest.   The Rapido truck as a low bolster, so you'll need some extra washers or some such.  Kato has a style GSC 41-CS-11  that is close enough and very nice.

If you don't use the Microtrains truck, you might still want to use the mounting boss they provide to adapt the really large hole in the floor of the Rowa car to something that takes a more normal pin or screw to mount.

I've switched to using Rapido Trains trucks for all my current lightweight passenger car builds (where appropriate). They have 36" metal wheels, are nicely detailed and are quite free rolling.

Yep, the Rowa 10-6 car.  Here's where I am so far, after realizing that I had a pair of MT trucks from somewhere that I'd never used, and put them on:

But the Rapido trucks look to be exactly correct for this car, so I might try to use those instead.

Darned nice.  And I agree, the Rapido trucks will be even nicer than the Micro-trains trucks.
