I usually put a paper towel over the nozzle of my Shop Vac and vacuum the excess which does two things, conserves the grass and helps the fibers stand upright.

If you want to focus the fibers to a small area you can lay down a piece of paper towel with a hole cut in it. That way the fibers only go through the hole.
