Function Mapping ESU Loksound Select micro (FT)

I am programming my AC9, (EM1), with the FT UP Challenger file # 73856. I have used my Lokprogrammer seven or eight times with no problem on other decoders. However I am having problem mapping the "grade crossing" sound.

I have it set up as F3 and then used the sound slot 16 in the far right column. It works but it also triggers the crossing sequence when the decoder is turned on. I have tried telling it while in drive and it still comes on when I press F8 to activate the decoder.

Anyone have a suggestion. I would really appreciate your help.

Hi Carl.

Did it work correctly before you reassigned the sound slot to F3?  Or has it always been wonky?

John, thanks for the reply. I think the default was F22 or some higher # and it worked well. I wanted it up in line with F1,2,3, &4. I will assign it to another F and see what happens. All others that I assigned work well.

I have a bad habit, most likely not good, in that I clear everything from the f stops except for FOF, FOR, & F1, & 2 before I assign the sound slots that I want to use.

I will let you know if reassigning does anything. It may be tomorrow.

Next time try changing only F3 and F22 (e.g., assign sound slot 16 to F3, then clear sound slot 16 from F22).  It should work unless this particular sequence has some weird programming.

John, I did what you suggested with  the same result.I found that I had not picked the  "Grade Crossing" option in the function column. That seemed to make it work on F22 but I , for fun, moved it to another F  key or two and had same result. I put it on F22 and will be happy with it.

Thank you for your assistance.

Much appreciated, these (FT) files are nice but make more difference in a diesel sound file IMHO.

Very weird.

I'm going to try a FT file on one of my own steam locos that also has the grade crossing sequence.  If I figure out what's wrong, will let you know.

It is a mute issue (pun intended) now as I had everything working well. Chuffs, slow & fast, were right on. So, I decided to replace the speaker with a larger one. I just twisted the wires together and I guess I contacted the track power and fried the sound amplifier. Must learn to be more careful !!!!!

Oh well the motor control is still excellent.
