No warning for edited posts, was it always like that?

I've noticed a couple times recently that when posting the forum won't warn me that someone had edited their post while I was typing.  I thought it used to do that or has it always been just new posts while you're typing.   :?

I just saw that warning few hours ago when I was posting a new message.

Never mind - that was a warning about a new post. I have never encountered a warning about edited posts.
