Was in Maine last week and took in the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport. Strolled into the barns and they had completely restored a Liberty Bell (LVT) car to it's 30's grandeur (carpeting, individual upholstered seating) and there also was a finished car that ran from 69th St. to West Chester (center door). An enjoyable ride to boot on an open car (Hartford #303). Also visited the NG museum in Portland.

modern diesel (well SD-45 modern)

They have a SD40-2, B40-8 and a couple Dash 9's (unless they returned the Dash9's to UP)
The Railwire is not your personal army.

Big fan. When I was stationed in Maryland for the Army, I used to go up there almost once a month. I'd ride the train and hit the museum. I never tired of it.
In October of 2015, my wife and I went to NYC with some friends, and one day we went out there. My wife, who has no interest in trains, actually liked the place. I even saw her taking her own train photos in the museum!
you need to model that in O scale
It sure wouldn't be tough. Single track main line with passing only possible at each end and at Groff's.
Operation sessions would get awfully boring, though.

they have brought a rash of "newer" diesels in but I have not had a chance to go see them yet, aiming for next summer.
