I finally redesigned all the problems and ordered a second version. I tried a new type of paint and I messed up the model. I have to practice a little bit more with this paint before I give it another try.

Now you got me curious - what paint is it?

I used to use Polly Scale and now made the switch to Vallejo Air. It was too thick and covered most of the details and also did not give me a uniform yellow I wanted. In the meantime, I read on the internet that you have too thin even the Vallejo Air paint at least the way I airbrush.

Ok, thanks Roland.  Good to know.

As far as any brand or type of yellow paint goes, I usually prime the model with white primer which offers excellent coverage and a good surface for paint to adhere to. That will gave the yellow pint a good bright and uniform base.

Yep similar - might even be the same one.

Sorry I was wrong. The blue one is usually a Kaiser walking excavator which looks very similar. Menzi and Kaiser developed the excavator together before they split.

That's probably what CalTrans uses. I saw that mountain at Disneyland in the background on the Menzi website.
