Author Topic: Another Question About Kato Unitrack (N Scale) Turnouts/Passing Sidings  (Read 1073 times)

I'm on the verge of buying some Unitrack turnouts. I'd like to know if the passing sidings using # 4 turnouts are the same distance from the main line as the sidings using # 6 turnouts.

As with all things in life, it depends.  See the linked turnout diagrams:

With the #6 switch you use a R718-15 curve to bring the diverging route parallel you have a spacing of 49.5mm

With the #4 switch you need a R481-15 plus a 64mm straight section to make the same 49.5mm spacing.  Normal spacing for a #4 is 33mm.

The layouts they show can be useful for ideas of how to arrange track pieces for what you want to do.
