NRE 3GS21B - A New Approach

Hello All,

Some of you may have noticed that it has been kinda quiet lately at CESM. But we haven't been slacking off... we've been working hard on a big project that we are excited to get going on.

With your support, we will be able to manufacture a model of the famous NRE 3GS21B Genset locomotive in N scale. But unlike our first locomotive release with a 3D printed shell and a modified mechanism, we decided to take another approach. We knew that we couldn't sit there day after day assembling, building, sanding, decaling, and applying impossibly tiny details, so we decided to use injection molding.

Our plan is to offer a model of this locomotive with a split-frame, 5-pole skew wound motor, dual flywheels, ditch lights, optional DCC and/or sound, and a detailed cab interior. Planned road names are UP, BNSF, NS, CSX, and the NRE demonstrator units. We are looking to gauge interest in a product such as this. oh man - between this and the SW1500 from MTL my small roadswitcher needs would be so complete.

But please, for the love all things railroady - make an undec.  I want to do these for NOPB, and I have to strip and repaint.

Wanted to let you know that we will not be doing these units as kits or RTR units, but we will still sell shells and etched frets from our site at cescalemodels.com. A BOM is available there for the rest of the parts you will need.

We are now refocusing our efforts on the RP20BD locomotive in hopes that it will do better for us.

I am a bit confused. So yesterday you were gauging interest in producing an injection molded Genset kit/RTR but today you aren't going to do it? Do I have this correct?

Speaking of SD50s, I think an SD50S would be a good candidate for a 3D printed model.
