Isn't that the SP prototype?  Why that and not the FVM cabooses, which are modeled after the proper prototype?

It figures. I can use the L&N and SP cabooses, fortunately.

So I guess if you're already getting the FVM model and you want to branch out, the Athearn is a better stand-in/starting point for the 3000 series.

I keep hoping Athearn would do a proper C-24 but having switched from Chessie to SP years ago I'll take more C50-7s please....and Undecs for the home road.

Got 2 of the fox valleys but need some bay window cabooses and these will have to do there good models so i'll overlook the differences.

   didn't Walthers have ICC Bay windows ?
    or was that just in HO they had different versions ?
   the base version was a Milwaukee ICC,close to many others,
   and nowhere near any SP cabooses.

Finally, the L&N's in N scale. I know several people who will be very happy about that.

I judge the quality to be not even close to the Athearn.  Similarly for Con-Cor and Model-Power.

With that said, the body of some of those might be good fodder for a kitbash with an Athearn base, roof, and/or end details.  They did announce undecorated versions!  Hopefully they come completely unassembled.

The B&O began rolling out the wagontops and picked up bay windows in the mid-late 60's (IIRC). The Athearn is close enough, just need to add some windows to get a good representation (obv. not 100% proto). I actually bought two of the undecs when they first came out to repaint, this saves me the trouble and I can get some stainless etched to make the sealed windows.

I really like these cabeese. Athearn did a great job. I'm in for a few; D&H, Erie, and CP for sure.

I wonder if they put the seats in this round. I was surprised to find seats in the bay windows especially since you can't see them.

I only noticed the seats when one of the windows came loose.
