Many people to thank for their help. I thank you all. TRW was a driving factor in my completing this project.

Yes, I know it is not 100% prototypical and yes I know the cab droops. Not sure why, but the next time i remove the boiler shell I will try to correct it so it doesn't look like a low rider. This is the culmination of a personal challenge and I am very happy with the looks and ecstatic about the slow smooth running.

Very impressive.

The chuffs sound particularly good.   The only thing you might want to think about is adjusting the chuff rate to get four chuffs per driver rotation.  It's pretty easy to do via ops mode programming and a couple of CV's (assuming four per rotation for each of the driving engines, or eight total, is the right number for the AC 9).

But it runs great, sounds terrific, and looks wonderful to my eyes.  Stellar project you should be justly proud of.

NICE job, looks and runs great! I agree with John, you'll want to "tweak" the chuffs. You can also adjust the "second engine" (second set of drivers) as well. I did three installs on my ACs, same decoder with a CT Elektronik "Sugar Cube" speaker. I spent the time to adjust the chuff rate on both "engines" as well as the individual sound effect "volumes". Then I applied those values to all three. Pretty wild when there are two or three setting there or running together. Just wondering, what system do you use at home? Reach out when you're ready....

Mike,

At home I use an NCE Powercab system and I use JMRI to program the decoder. I have not, as yet, attempted any fine tuning of the decoder as I just wanted to see if it would run well and then take it from there.

You mention adjusting both engines and also the related volumes. I may be missing something in JMRI because I could only find a "master volume" control and was not sure about how to adjust chuff on both engines. I need to do some more reading, I suppose. I may be better off using CV's per the decoder manual.

I like the ESU decoder because I feel it has better motor control vs the Tsunami. However, I do think the Tsunami has a great deal more fine tuning capabilities as far as sound goes.

I was real happy with the volume out of the Knowles Fox unit with a J.D. Colombo style enclosure.
