RS-10/18 low nose resin kits

A quick heads up for ALCO/ MLW RS-10/18 enthusiasts out there. Due to the success of his N scale C-40CM resin kit I was able to convince Jeff from Briggs Models to come out of retirement one more time. He will be producing several resin conversion parts for the Low (chopped) nose RS-10/18. The low nose version being produced is based on the BCR version of the locomotive and is designed to fit the Atlas RS-11. With a little sanding it will also fit the True-Line RS-10/18s. I am unfamiliar with the CN/CP or other low nose versions but from photos this kit looks like a good starting point.

Also in the works is a Filter kit that will include inertial filters, two styles of after cooler filters, and radiator panels.

Jeff is looking at a selling price of $30 Can for the low nose conversion and $15 Can for the filter set.

There are photos available of the low nose conversion on Jeff’s website at http://www.briggsmodels.ca

He is hoping to have a photo of the filter set up within a week.

As before, Jeff would prefer if you emailed me your interest in the kit, how many you would like and your contact information. I will pass this information on to him.  No payment is required at this time and when he is finished production of the low nose and filter conversion he will contact you with a payment procedure.

If he can sell enough of these two kits he said that he could be persuaded to produce different fuel tank sets (Large/Small) and two different types of long hoods.

If you are interested in obtaining these kits or have any questions please email me directly at gump47@shaw.ca

Kind regards,
Chris Dittmar

Well, rats.  I need the CP version.  From pictures I've found it seems the nose is more rounded, but that may be an optical illusion.  Completely different light package and placement of the brake wheel, too.  The cab front is different - angled with marker lights sticking up.

The long hood has a completely different vent arrangement as well.  :(

BCR version: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=226072

I'll probably get one just to see how close it is.

Hi John

It doesn’t look like it would be a difficult conversion but I see from the two photos there certainly is a difference between the CP and BCR low noses. Anyway if you want one please shoot me an email at gump47@shaw.ca

Happy Modeling,

Chris
