Jason must be some kind of wizard or shaman or or voodoo doctor... how else to explain Pud proudly announcing a release that not only doesn't include CP, but does include two different CN schemes! Witchcraft

The first step to world domination is inflitrating the other side and learning their secrets.....(Cue the James Bond music.......  8))
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Is the cafe bar lounge based on an actual prototype car? The web site doesn't specifically mention one. (or I didn't see it if it did)

CN/VIA 2500-series Cafe-Bar-Lounge cars rebuilt from Cafe-Coach-Lounge cars in 1971.  Those were rebuilt from Coaches in 1965.

I used to ride them all the time between Toronto and Montreal as they were a staple on the Rapido.  The 750-series Cafe-Lounge cars were more widely used but not needed on my layout, which is the Kingston Sub... i.e., the route between Toronto and Montreal.

That's actually how a lot of our products are chosen...  :D

Haha.  I think that's the way a lot of smaller companies work.

For example, I think the most important questions at ESM is:  Does Bryan need it?

Then only secondly- can we make some money on this.

(just teasing---- sort of)

That is a model modelers dream situation! If only you were a dyed in the wool N scaler... as I roughly model some of the same territory, the possibilities would be awesome.

Actually, most of the smaller companies that may or may not employ people full time work by the same standards as the larger ones.  From a personal standpoint, the X58 falls in between the eras I model, so for me personally it wasn't a very high priority.  But from a business standpoint, it made a lot of sense to do, even with another Pennsy-specific model already in the stable.

The criteria are:  is this a model that will attract people's attention; is it a model that another manufacturer won't do simultaneously; and can we make some profit within a reasonable period of time?  If you look at the new models being released or announced from the smaller manufacturers, many of them have no ties to the preferred roads of the manufacturers.  I have a number of models designed and ready for tool-cutting when funds allow.  Only one could be considered having New Haven ties, and it's not anywhere near the front of the list.

"If only you were a dyed in the wool N scaler..."

I think that considering he is not a "dyed in the wool N scaler" we have even more reason to be grateful for what he brings out.  A large number of other manufacturers turns a cold eye towards N... for me to have someone who is willing to put out a product of quality in N-scale is reason to rejoice, even if it isn't something I can necessarily use.

I find it better when it is something that I can use. Self being the ultimate motivator here.

Funny thing is the more I think about it the more I realize I will buy at least one of each car in Northern Pacific.  They are just too nice of a car to avoid and I like their NP colors much better.  If you build a quality product I guess it will sell!!
