Who could forget the Railwire "Two-Beer Modeling Challenge"?

Nice!  This was before I joined the Railwire so this is the first time I see this.
I read through all 7 pages of the original thread but I didn't see you mention what you used for the fine chain.  What is it?
Also, you mention that the threadplate is described on your website somewhere. I'm feeling too lazy to search so: how did you model it?

Glad you like it. The chain is actually a piece of beading needle, which is very fine stainless wire twisted tightly. The diamond plate is a graphic I rendered in Corel, printed on decal sheet and applied over silver paint.

Here's one of my favorites - even though I did it an embarrasingly long time ago:

The epic FAIL of ATSF refrigerator car design:  The Conditionaire - a styrofoam-insulated covered hopper for oranges.  Actually turned out to be the worlds largest juice squeezer.    Got demoted to potatoes and died and early death.

Basically a 70's era PS hopper with a lot of added detail including the refrigeration units.  The foam surface was simulated by painting it with latex paint and sprinkling on find sand.   Individual alphabets for decals.

The NP also had those Conditionaire cars, and used them from the beginning for potatoes.  Apparently they worked, but the experiment was never repeated, and as far as I know they kept shipping most of the spuds in reefers.
