Hello, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Tim, and I live in eastern VA. As a kid I grew up with the C&O/ Chessie System right in my backyard, literally 30' from the fence. So naturally I liked trains and had a 4x8 layout when I was younger. About two years ago I got inspired to get back into model railroading. A Lot has changed in the realm of model railroading since I was younger. So I've read a lot and tried to become informed about all the latest trends. It has certainly become a lot more expensive now to collect rolling stock and build a layout that's for sure.
Over the last 20 months I've been working on a smallish (29"x 12' 4") HO switching layout. Nothing fancy, just found a track plan on the web and modified it a bit to suite my needs. Initially it was straight DC with block wiring, but somewhere along the path I switched over to DCC. I like having the independent control and sound. Still need to paint and weather a couple structures and finish ballasting some spots. At first it was a Norfolk Southern based theme, But I've collected several locos from many roads. I just swap them around depending on how I'm feeling that day. Right now I'm into the MRL/ BNSF. Anyway let me see if I can post some pics
