A year or so ago, a friend had the motor on a N scale F unit lock up.
Asked them to send a new motor so we could swap it out.
They sent him the whole mech, frames to trucks!
No charge.

Wow!  What a great deal!  I wish I could get complete, decorated shells from them like we can from Atlas.

Dave,

Just email or call them and ask!  They may not be able to but the worst they can do is say no.

Dave you can.  If they have them in stock they will sell you what you want.

I bought a SD45T-2 really cheap at a show with a shell I didn't want, so I figured I would email them to see if they had any of the ones I wanted and if I could buy one direct.  They told me they did indeed have the one I wanted and asked what I was going to do with the old shell.  Told them I planned to sell it on Fleabay and they wrote me back and told me to send the entire unit intact and they would swap it for me.

I got it back within a week or so.....NO CHARGE for the shell, swapping or return shipping.

Another buddy bought what was suppose to be a like new Amtrak AB F units, when he got them home they were TRASH!  Shells were glued onto the chassis, missing couplers, didn't run, on and on and on.  I told him to contact IM to see if they had parts.  This was after my above experience.  They told him the same thing, SEND THEM TO US.  Within a few weeks, he got a call saying they had repaired everything, they rebuilt the B unit and replaced the A unit with a new one!  The only thing they didn't have was the Amtrak shells but offered him the choice of what they had left!  They only charged him $50 and returned them with free shipping.

I have never had a bad experience with Intermountain!  Very Friendly folks.

Allen...
