Bedford N Scale Weekend

The Bedford event will be this weekend.  Mike and the guys at the Bedford Model Railroad club do a really great job with this and it has always proved to be a fun filled weekend.  Once again our club will be there [Actually we would not miss it] and once again we will stay off the beaten path at an exclusive mountain valley executive type resort, spa, mule [named 1775 and 1776 according to their name tags (brands)], goat, chicken, cat and spider farm complete with a coupon for $5.00 off any purchase at the Tractor Supply Co.

Seriously though, let's hope hurricanre Irene tracks far off the East coast so those from the East Coast can attend.

Unfortunately, I will be unable to make it again this year.  Our club, Central Ohio N-Trak left today for the trek over and do a little railfanning along the way.  Have a great weekend to those who are attending,  and safe travels as well.

Looks like an Ntrak trailer stopped at Cresson, PA for some railfaning on the way to the Bedford show.

If that is the Central Ohio Ntrak guys then they must have gotten another trailer after theirs was stolen a couple of years back.  Our club has a similar one but we currently have no one to pull it and so it sits forlornly in an open field alongside of I 79.

Went last year and found it to be a very nice day. It's pure N which I find to be quite inspiring.

That weather forecast shows the storm will be into eastern PA by mid afternoon. I'm not too thrilled about driving back through 50-60 miles of heavy wind-driver rain for the last segment of the trip home, so I'm thinking I'll literally take a rain check. I was looking forward to making the trek.

Bedford should be minimally impacted by hurricane Irene.   Travel to and from the East will be affected .  Latest weather information I have indicates Sunday as the day of impact.  Anyone coming from the west should not be affected or minimally so.   Saturday might therefore be best for anyone east of Bedford.

Hi, all,

I was very fortunate to be able to attend the annual N Scale Weekend hosted by Mike Phillips and the Bedford Model Railroaders, in Bedford, Pennsylvania.  Wonderful people and a great time had by all.  Hope you can feel like you were there too by enjoying the photos.

Here's the album:  http://www.pbase.com/atsf_arizona/n_scale_wkend_2011&page=all

And here's a couple of shots:

One of the many NTrak layouts, this is the Central Ohio (Columbus) NTrak:

Tom Hoover's Santa Fe Barstow Shops - notice the use of mirror and how Tom was able
to put all this into a 2' long NTrak module :-) :

Here's Thurmond, WV:

Charles Hopkins was there with his loads and custom paint jobs:

And here's Randgust's incredibly great little Hickory Valley, 2' x 4' with hidden staging below,
just superb.  Randgust ( http://www.randgust.com ) built this layout back in 1975 while at
the university.   Great!

As well as Randgust's critters, such as this fully working Heisler:

Thx to Mike Phillips, all the Bedford Model Railroaders, and all the NTrak-ers and N scale
people who were there.  Hope you enjoy the photos, again, that URL is:

Have a good week, all.

Hey John! Great pictures as usual, but I gotta make one correction. Randy's little geared wonder, the Insperation for all my scratchbuild, is a Class B Climax, not a Heisler. Although if you wanna see an N scale Heisler, I am almost ready to show the finished version of mine! :D
