Questions about rerail bracket...

I am working on what was supposed to be my fourth of July project and need some help identifying where the rerail frog is actually attached? The sill/frame or the truck?

I'm pretty sure there were hangers under the sill.  But for practical purposes, you could probably hang it on the truck so it doesn't end up interfering with operation.  In photos the only reason anyone would know is because you posted this question for the whole world to know that you were cheating...

Thats what I thought as well, being attached to the sill. There is enough room between the truck and the sill to use an L shaped bracket to attach the rerailer too. The rerailer I have is a tad different but a good standin for the one shown. Details later.

I glued mine right to the sideframes.

All the sillwork is done, uncoupling levers, 905's, rerailers and chains. What remains now is the decision to put marker lights and hood vent covers on it. I have already queried the etching gods for some help, but the bigger question is putting the marker lights on. I have marker lights, but in comparison to the 44T they are huge. They'd look good on a passenger car, but overpower the 44T. What say you guru's?

Do the radiator covers (they're very cool) and scratch build the marker lamps.

Markers look big because they are side mounted on the proto. I don't really know smaller ones with a side mount.

I had a 4 day weekend for the 4th...I started but then got swamped with errands, cookouts, boozing, schmoozing and bartending. Then I did some looking around what others have done, I decided to replace the decoder. I kinda figured I'd just have to do the uncoupling lever and add 905's then squirt it with paint, but no, I had to go look at proto photos.  I decided to add parts I didn't have...had to wait for those to come in.... Add to the fact I have limited time in the evenings you get the picture. Now that I know all the In's 'n' Out's I could probably finish one in a few days. RCD is a killer disease.
