I got my first unit from the PCM E7/8/9 Sale at Factory Direct Trains.    This would be my first experience with sound..

Call me a simpleton.. but man this is cool!    I was a little surprised to hear a rooster call come out of the thing, but still.   ;D

Way Cool, Jr!

Now, if I could get it to play some of my MP3's    8)

Did you find the snooze button yet?

yes, roosters!   It's got a couple of predefined sounds in it.. industrial sounds, farmland sounds, city sounds..

It even has dispatcher conversations...

Yeah, I also heard about the "Easter eggs" in the sound library attached to certain F-keys, the farm sounds being the biggest 'WTF?'. No worse than the silly "All aboard!" on Athearn's Challenger/Big Boy. Extra memory in the sound chip, so I guess they feel they have to fill it up with something. Go figure.  :-\

Whew, those are some decent prices, but, thankfully, they don't have the roadnames I would want.  Mr. Wallet is safe for now.  But, Ed K. is screwed: they've got FEC E7As and E7Bs on sale with DCC and sound!

Sorry about your luck  ;),

Varies by people. Some people I know get annoyed after 20 minutes. I have yet to be annoyed by it, and I've been using it for nearly 3 years.

Wonder how long it'll be before we get a sound/dcc swithcer in N?

If N scale had good SD40-2s, C30-7s, U30Cs, SD45s, SD40s, and SW10s; I'd be in N scale.

Since I got the first one I am in the market for an additional espee E7A. If anyone knows where I can score another one (6003) let me know. I had some difficulty with the first but have had exceptional response from Broadway-Limited service. I am so impressed by their response that I am ready to shell our the $$$ if I can fine a mate for the original purchase.
