Videos of the helix in action

Well after many attempts at getting some video,, here is what I came up with. I wish I had a real video camera,, I had to use a Kodak point and shoot.

The 1st video is of the grain train traveling eastbound/south, going down the helix. The south staging is points south such as,,, Chicago,Louisville, and Kansas City.

The 2nd video is of the train at mid level helix, traveling the helix then exiting onto the throat of the staging yard, then proceeding down the track.

The train used for the video is 2 Atlas locos,, 2 Life Like locos, 30 IMRC grain hoppers and 1 Atlas caboose. All with low profile wheel sets and micro train couplers.

Once the staging yard is complete it will be able to hold 8 trains that vary from 12 to 15 foot in lenght. So just one more helix to go ,, and then the westbound/north staging yard. Then I will be able to have continous running.

  adios for now wyatt

I don't know, that video looks pretty "grainy" to me.   ;D

So will those same 4 units pull that 13' train up the helix?  Planning minds want to know.

Thanks,
Gary

As for the video,, I am not Francis Ford Copola,,lol. And yes Gary those units will pull that train up the helix.

The actaul grain trains needs to be 28 cars,, because that is the lenght that fits in the elevator tracks. Where you see the SOO and WC locos that is the lead to switch the elevator. The lead can hold two lokies,,, 15 cars. There will be no cherry picking when it comes to time to switch the elevator.
