But think of it another way:

Will MT sell out of these cars at $38 without having to invest the time to do the placard?  Sure, so from a business standpoint, they win without the extra time. ;D

Listen, the My Little Ponytm brand of toy horses look nothing like real horses, but I don't bitch every time Hasbro releases a new purple horse with big anime-style drugged-up eyes.  I recognize that My Little Ponies aren't meant for me, and even if I did collect toy horses, I could just go out an buy anatomically-correct toy horses instead of My Little Ponies.

So I can live a complete life buying up all the model trains I can afford regardless of what MT or Hasbro does.

"Hand me my boxcar."
"Which one is it?"
"It's the one that says 'bad mother ****er' on it."

Sorry.

Is that supposed to be the convention car? I hope not, because if it is, I'll have to trade or sell it before I leave Louisville...

No.  This is strictly a special run for the NSC that has nothing to do with the convention.

Convention cars usually aren't announced until registration opens at the convention on Wednesday, and the banquet car is announced by Eric Smith at the banquet.

Okay, I hate to spoil all your fun, since I know how much some of you enjoy bashing MT, but you can't blame them for this car.

This car is a special run for the N-Scale Collector, it's not an MT release.  Micro-Trains produced exactly what was ordered by the customer (NSC), nothing more and nothing less.  If you want to bash NSC about using the wrong car, or not using a placard, or the $38 price you're welcome to, it won't bother me a bit; bashing MT for producting what the customer ordered is unfair ot them.

Tim Nixon

P.S.  MT could care less whether these sell out or not, they have already been paid for these cars.

Ok, the NSC sucks for:
1. wrong car for the scheme
2. being lame and not doing the placard
3. charging $40 for it

Better now :) ?

When I saw I needed a few of those, they were quite easy to come by.  I even got an undec which was nice for a change.  IM must have gone to Walthers to get advise on how to glue stuff together. :-X

Maybe they've had there turn and we could get a shot at some ealier 4000 cu. ft. PS ones instead.

Funny, I've never really paid any attention to the NSC. Well, at least now I know what NSC stands for ...  :P

Ed, how about these, homie?  These *are* accurate (but maybe a little old for '85):

The ARHS also offers the Atlas 55 ton 2 bay hopper in decorated except for road number version in LV, CNJ and Reading that match the regular releases Atlas has offered in the past. I got myself a set of 10 LV ones already with plans to get another 10 later. A few of the LV cars made it onto the CR roster.

Hey, in my first post I never used the words MTL or Microtrains!  I said NSC...

Frankly, $38 is probably a bargain if you include paint, labor, parts, etc - so if a model is done really nicely and correctly, I would consider it.

But not when it's the wrong car done incorrectly  :)

OK, true enough -- my bad for hijacking.  I just wanted to show that it only takes a little effort/research for an organization to bring an accurate model (body style + lettering) to market.

And what's even cooler about those LV gons is that the HO boys have to slice and dice to get a model with the right number of ribs and spacing.   :P
