Older Atlas GP7 & DCC

Greetings all.  Just wondering if anyone knows what it would take to put a DCC decoder inside an older model Atlas GP7?? I think it was a late 90's release date.  I'm looking at the Wabash GP7 (not that road name makes a difference), but since I run DCC, I need to know if there is any major modifications to make to the frame, or if it is still fairly straight forward. Any help would be much appreciated.

Welcome to Railwire!! Your best bet is to go with a TCS decoder. Their CN-GP is what you need. It is a two piece decoder that takes the place of both light boards. The installation is not to tough and requires very little frame modificaton. They (TCS) have a "Book of Classic Installations" .pdf file you will find very informative. Here's the link for you.

I've used the TCS decoders before with good results, but I wasn't sure, not seeing the frame, if this would work or not.  I'll look it up and see...

of all the decoders I know, that two piece TCS one is the first one I'd try.

I believe it was designed to replace what was a fairly standard atlas light board.

Unless you want to do some frame cutting the TCS decoder is the only game in town.
