160pennsy:

I will be scratchbuilding the Canaan Union Station.  The real station is being rebuilt as I type this.  The framing and shell are up, but the siding is not yet complete.  The link below shows the area looking north at the diamond.  I have a stand in station for mock-up purposes.

Eric:

Just saw this over on the Branchline Trains web site:

http://www.branchline-trains.com/laserart/trackside/canaan.htm

It will be available in HO scale but if they already have the CAD files, maybe they can laser-cut one for you in n-scale?

Thanks for the heads up on that station.  I have the evergreen siding and the Tichy windows for scratchbuilding the project, but a laser cut alternative sounds good!

I hope to continue layout construction sometime in November.  I just have no time right now.  I'll have to contact Branch Line for more info.  Thanks again!

10/24 Update:  I just heard back from Branchline that they are considering it.  They said that even if it was feasible, not to expect anything until late 2008 or so.  I may just go ahead and scratchbuild a placeholder station for now.

Those are earring backs.  Dan Crowley had posted the idea on a few other forums.  I thought I would give it a try.  They work great, although I will eventually go to a facia mounted knob with linkages to the turnouts.  While the layout is in flux, they work great.  I may actually keep them on the sidings and industrial trackage.  I am going beyond Mr. Crowley's concept and am experimenting with using these in conjunction with slide switches, so I can power the frogs on my turnouts.  I like the size and appearance better than the caboose Ind. throws, plus I can make 50 of them for a total of $5.75.  I just spray bomb them black.  The turnout has to be firmly in place, and a piece of roadbed placed under the throw, but they hold the points firmly.

Gotcha, I use to use push pins; someone needs to make a 1/60th scale manual turnout control, if we can put a man on the moon, lord god billy bob.

Also the large warehouse looks like the Nu-Line stuff. There is a pretty decent N scale layout in Clovis, next to Fresno and the owner kitbashed a few of those Nu-Line warehouses and they look damn fine.

Good spotting.  That is a Nu-Line warehouse, which will play the role of AC Humko Quality Oils on my layout.  I opened it up and will make a rear wall out of styrene.  These are very versitile kits!.

All of the buildings are just mocked up at this point.  I have also ripped out Specialty Minerals and have begun to relay the track to better reflect the prototype track layout, with some added track as they have expanded their business in my version.  8)

They need to make just the walls in N, they make them in HO. I used them for Boeing on my HO layout in Wichita.
