A Little Putty, Little Paint...

I received this beauty in a lot of stuff I purchased recently.  It doesn't fit any of the prototypes I model, so it was added to the Laurel Valley roster...


It's an ancient resin casting, with very coarse details.  I added a strip of Evergreen strip stock to clean up the edge of the roof, and cut off the cast on grabs on the side to replace them with wire.  I also modified the bolsters to lower the ride height, added MT caboose end railings and roof walks, and BLMA etched ladders.



As you can see, there's a ton of flash to clean off, and some of the castings are pretty bad, especially on the vestibule steps.  I may yet re-do them.  But for now...



It's another fine example of the old saying "A little Putty, A little Paint, make it somethin' that it ain't!"  I was anxious to get a picture up, so please pardon the Micro Crystal Clear being a little white in the corners...

I'll be weathering this one up a bit.  The idea is that this paint scheme pre-dates the Green and Yellow Laurel Valley Scheme.  Any pointers?

I believe the actual saying is: Beat to fit, putty to fill, file to smooth, paint to hide.
