Geez, HazMatt, you might wanna go easy on the soil next time.

This is a weathering forum - not a gravedigger's convention.  :?

Matt,

It's a good attempt.  But I think the weathering is a little too heavy.  I would try a lighter touch next time and concentrate on the aspects that make up a prototype railbox car such as faded and colorshifted paint and clean ribs.   Try to pick out these characteristics and transfer them to your model.  Fading the base color and logos would be first, and then following up with a dirty wash and some grime around the door and ribs would (but keep the ribs clean) make a huge difference for next time.

Thanks Tom

That's more or less what I should have said. But you do the kid gloves thing better than anyone. Either way - good cop or bad cop - the message is clear.

Matt, before you put that puppy on eBay, see if you can take some Pine Sol on an old toothbrush and remove some of the "weathering".  At least take your finger in a small cloth and rub the grime off the ribs using Pine Sol.

Matt decided he wasn't proud of that project anymore and deleted the pictures!
