Highlights from Saturdays' Reading/Harrisburg Line trip:
38G got out while Matt and I were scouting the yard, but trackwork made him stop at Macungie, and we got there just before he got a good signal:
Moving west, we caught 34M at Mertztown:
19G finally got out of Allentown and he caught up with us west of Lyons. This shot is one of my favorites from the trip:
There was actually nothing going on around the outskirts of Reading, so we stopped in Sinking Spring when a few trains popped into the picture. Here's 66Z, with a real treat leading:
Next up was this 214 with a solid set of UP power (SD70M/SD70ACe/SD60):
We continued west, and stopped in Wernersville for 33A:
33A went into emergency, a pair of air hoses separated practically right in front of me. And by this time it was getting late, so we decided to head back east. But a 262 was being run around the stopped 33A, so we caught it in Sinking Spring:
The signals to the east told us there was a westbound coming, so we waited. Too bad I musjudged the train's speed and the shot came out blurry:
33A eventually got going again, with this 36Q following behind in the last moments of daylight:
DAX is Occidental Chemical, formerly Diamond Shamrock, originally Diamond Alkali:
The Lancaster and Chester could have easily been a regional road in Southern/Southeastern PA, but that was not to be...:
NS billet car on 34M, I have no idea what it was doing at Abrams Yard:
Nice, rusty N&W hopper:
PRR 2100, ex-CR 9400, nee-RDG 2625
