I went out Monday and did some railfanning, just so I'd have something to post this week.

D&H in South Philly with a brand-new GEVO:

Is it just me, or are the patched holes along the side of this gon left over from the days when gons used to carry cement containers?

The rest are here: http://sean121982.rrpicturearchives.net/archiveThumbs.aspx?id=10265

Some more old stuff I scanned:

The crew checks the coal pile before a runby on SOU 722 in October 1972:

SOU 722 in a photo runby near Lumberton, MS, October 1972:

South Shore Traction Co. carbarn near Babylon, NY, circa 1900. Photographer unknown:

South Brooklyn Rwy. (ex BRT) 9422 open ended box motor, March 8, 1956:

TP-MPT 51 was sold to deBardeleben Coal in 1947, was still around in 1972:

Next week it'll be PRR steam!  ;D

Some Swiss shots from last year. I can't remember if I posted them before, but now they are uploaded on to my server.

Gregg,

That open end box motor is cool, and the big white building behind it is even cooler.

Tom, there were still four of those box motors around in 1960, although I don't think they'd turned a wheel in a half century then. Believe they all went to  museums. The warehouse behind it is part of Bush Terminal. There was an article on modeling the Bush Terminal in Model Railroad Planning either last year or the year before.

The Intermountain PS 5277cf boxcar looks the closest, just going by the side views. The door would have to be changed.

By the looks of that frog , the inside wheel may be totally flangless , which would mean the outside wheel would need to be flanged on both sides .

Probably close enough for Government work as they say. The GMRC box car has a 5344 cu. ft. capacity.
