No Monongahela. Oh well.  Not that I've ever purchased a BLI locomotive.  Although if they decide to include it in a run I'd have to rethink my "I'll never purchase a BLI locomotive" rule. Although my club members are mostly happy with theirs.

Probably about the only diesel I'd get from BLI given my late 40's time period.  At 1950 still a little too late but I've loved the Baldwin RF-16 Shark for so long I'll get an ABBA set in stealth and put ESU LokSound/LokPilot in them

No Monongahela.

With that there were only 3 original buyers - PRR, B&O and NYC  you would think that would leave room for the secondary owners.  They probably added D&H because it's a popular paint scheme (I wish I could justify getting a set).  I guess they wanted to leave something for another run.  Hopefully these sell well and BLI does another like they've repeatedly done the F3/F7

They did Monon in HO, so we'll likely see it eventually.

Monon and Monongahela are different RRs

Not that I have any interest in these, but why are all of the BLI AB sets always with a dummy B? I can't be the only one who'd rather have both units powered

Interesting side note: D&H 1205/1216 ran for a couple years +/- 1978 on the Michigan Northern based in Cadillac. They still exist, last reported in Escanaba on the LS&I: https://railfan.com/elusive-baldwin-shark-emerges-after-four-decades-in-storage/

*Edited to correct their brief appearance on the MN before being moved to storage in Escanaba.

Those who have E-Rs with the cracked white gears might be happy about this.  Those who sell the E-Rs on FeePay might be unhappy as it might drop prices.  Even a used pair of these currently fetches a pretty good price, there.  At some point, more than a few of the E-Rs will appear on FeePay as people try to defray the cost of the BLIs.

While I do like the idea of the sharks, I do wish that they would have chosen a Lima yard goat or Baldwin road switcher.  Those are two missing pieces in N scale first generation diesels.  Modellers of those who had them also might prefer a Lima or Baldwin transfer locomotive.

Some of the early sharks actually had babyface insides under the shark body.  The Penn and one of the Chicago area roads had those.  The Chicago area road that had them subsequently sold them to the B&O.  Someone mentioned that the V-Line shark shells actually are the earlier bodies.  There are supposed to be minor spotting details but I forget what they are.

I guess that I will be in for two B&Os and one Penn.

Thank you to Original Poster for the update.

Oh man - thanks! It was a Monongahela shark that link though.

I am embarrassed to realize that I haven't known this across decades.

Looks like a set of Sharks might take a bite out of my wallet:

As a general question regarding preferences concerning the A-B sets, would you rather have an unpowered B unit - as BLI will be offering - or a powered B unit?

If the wallet allowed, I'd end up picking up a A-B set plus two more A units, with the goal of putting the B shell on one of the powered A chassis, as I'd prefer a full powered A-B-A set.

Slightly off question, I would prefer a stealth A and B personally, i.e. not totally un DCC ready, but something that I can plug in the decoder of my choice and a good speaker.

Kind regards,
Bill
