Found a use for some old cat pole etches and made two poseable dozer blades for mt DKS Cat D2’s to push aggregate around. They will be painted in IS white when done. Yeah, no, I’m not adding hydraulics.

Trains are running again after a long hiatus for scenery work.

Nice photo Scott!  It also illustrates that just having a wide depth of field makes N scale models look like they are larger scale, and even more like 1:1 trains.

Added kick plate to new base cabinets plus a few drawer knobs.  Trying to decide if I need knobs on remaining drawers.  Also added Woodland Scenics Sully's Tavern.  Ran trains with both UP Flag locomotives on outside track for this Veterans Day weekend.  Lastly, this is my first try to add Android cell phone photos with my ChromeBook.  At age 80, I need to get past my aged digital camera and Windows 7 laptop.  Now I have to figure out how to rotate both bottom photos?

Added photo with two upper right drawers open.

Well this is what I've been doing over the last couple weeks, granted mostly waiting on track, but I've got the track where I want it.
This is my Japanese desk layout in Z scale. It is 30" x 12"
Track is all Rokuhan, because it's just unitrack but Z scale.
Yes, that is a double slip, and yes I know most places would not do that, but for operations sake it works perfectly, and I really wanted an excuse to have a double slip.  :D
Done in Anyrail.

I don't have a concrete location, but it will be based in Japan.
I've considered basing in Hokkaido prefecture, because for some reason, I'm drawn to Hokkaido.
So far I've only got a Kiha 52 as passenger service, and a DE10 for most of whatever freight I decide to run. Which for now is a couple Taki 1000s in the really pretty green and grey paint.
I do have the C11 and a DD51 which came out of a Evangelion set with a Shiki 800 (Schnabel)

I have an elevated line that is in the works as well, but it will be non functional/display track. So far that will be my only "electrified" line so I can store either my E231 Yamanote line or my EVA 500 Shinkansen.

Eventually I'll pick up more structures, and fill it in some.
I'm a huge fan of the Sankei card stock structures.
I made this one and it's tiny bits in those last couple of weeks.

Yes. Yes that is a dog house. Yes I had to put it together.  :scared:

Also I will have lighted interiors in all of the buildings at some point, but for starters, this is my platform lighting. I'm not sure how I feel about the color, but I may get over it until I find some daylight COB LEDs.

This is Garfield, the only time he is well behaved, is when he's watching trains. Orange cats are crazy.

I hosted our 7th Division's monthly modelling night tonight, and managed to get three pairs of stock rails notched for my Civil Engineering turnout projects.  They were filed using the Fast Tracks Stock Aid tool:

Philippe was working on his turnouts beside me and I was able to borrow his files as well as his Stock Aid tool:

Three pairs of stock rails notched and ready to be soldered in place:

I also made decent progress on my Sperry Rail car project this week (see separate thread):

Decided to try and make a ….

…. DC version of my HandCab (DCC) HandCab (DCC) shown above that is a WiFi throttle. This one will connect to the bayou with a tether wire. The controls wont be as advanced as the DCC HandCab since you can't do as much with a DC throttle as you can a DCC throttle. It won't have the display, keypad or most of the buttons. I do hope to experiment with horn and bell audio possibly.

As far as I am working on it using the non-commercial Fusion CAD program. About a good days work.

There is a two step pulley attached to the bottom of the $4.00 12v PWM DC controller. One step is connected to a brake pulley attached to the brake handle. The other step of the pulley is attached with a line to the throttle pulley/handle.

I made enough progress on the third day to test the concept and I'm fairly happy with it. Made changes to the above (see previous image) and need to do another print of the housing and the double pulley.  When the reverser handle is pulled to either side (fwd/rev) it trips the limit switches on that side and changes the track polarity. In the middle the track power is off and the loco won't move.

To be continued in the DCC / Electronics forum on ( HERE ) and my website ( HERE )

A link to the DCC HandCab (modeled off a GP7/9 control stalk ( HERE ).

Wife brought home more craft paint and I was thinking of a storage system for them where they can be seen easily while using them and not take up much room.

Here is how I have them stored now

Came up with this. There will be a drawer on the bottom for brushes and other stuff.

I had bought a sheet of cheap plywood from one of the big box store to see how well it cut on the laser. It cut great, so I decided to use it for this.
This is what I glued together so far.

A basket with bottles in it

The last couple of weeks I’ve been working an a handful of PGE locos for a friend. They’re all done. Here they are on my Rutherford River crossing which is their prototypical stomping ground. I need to figure out how to focus stack on my phone.

More track surgery for me to eliminate some trouble spots that while accessible, required some bother to access.

There was a runaround that had industrial spurs running from it that required some bother to switch those spurs. The turnouts were B-mann E-Z Track #4s and eleven inch radius.  Several locomotives were stalling on them... I replaced them with E-Z Track #6s and removed the turnouts that serviced the spurs.  I moved the spurs to an area that was more easily accessible thus making it fr easier to switch those spurs.  Some of the #4s and eleven inch radius turnout s were not causing problems, so I re-used those.

Slowly but surely, I am cleaning up the trouble spots that developped.

So far, the #6s are working far better than did the sharper turnouts.

Love that scene and river @craigolio1.  The outdoor shots are really nice.
