Definitely pricey but you’re right. Are they doing the entire train or just a few? I’m still pretty sour grapes they did a few nice releases with Ringling Brothers and started on the royal American train but then just kind of gave up. I haven’t bought another micro trains release since

The Ringling brothers program went for 10 years,  09-19 plus.  We did about 100 releases, everything from smooth side passenger cars to heavyweights and a bunch of flats with loads.  There were even a few unique cars created for the run.  This does not include the Z scale releases.

A friend of mine bought every single N scale Ringling Bros release. It was a huge collection! I'm glad I'm afraid of clowns or I would of bought them also.

Sorry, my response was poorly worded. I was after more of the red/blue train. Also I felt the royal American circus was cut short.

Had a rough day, should post when I’m in a better mood

No worries, like none of us have had bad days or weeks or years.  LOL   I just wanted to make sure you were aware of the stuff we did.   I'll check into the Royal American and see if that has any legs for revival.

Thanks again, I appreciate the dialog.

Cheers

I will not buy more TBOXs.
I will not buy more TBOXs.

At $52 I will not buy any. That’s just nuts for at MT boxcar.

They are $75 in Canada.  I'll buy the weathered ones as a treat to myself, and if they come out with more CN/DWC schemes.  Just the price of doing business these days, and I buy so little anyways.

I wonder what the first $100 freight car will be?  I bet it won't be long in coming.

While I'll agree they are a little on the high side, there's a lot that goes into these cars.  It's all brand new (3 years now) tooling that had to be paid for, and they are manufactured in the United States.  Everyone wants stuff done here, and these already are.

All valid points.

I am not saying I wouldn’t buy a $52 N scale freight car but it would be of a higher quality than a MT model. The price is what it is. If enough modelers want it, great. If not, I’ll gladly offer $25 on an eBay fire sale.

I think they are very expensive cars. But Wow! they're nice cars. This is a new generation of Micro Trains that leaves most other manufacturers in the dust. And the weathering and graffiti printing is the best I've ever seen. Expensive but worth it, apparently. Somehow I've managed to acquire 18 of them.

Isn't $52 the MSRP?  The street price will be lower.
. . . 42 . . .

I've seen them as low as $40-42 at various dealers

The TBOX model is top tier in my books.  Separate door detail, great paint, super crisp detail.  It is a model we needed and a fantastic execution.  I hope MT churns them out 'til the cows come home (esp. CN/DWC ;)).

If it was 2015 I would agree with you, but... You need to take a look at the recent Micro-Trains tooling. They have been making top tier models that stand up to any N scale manufacturer.

Honestly, I'm not sure what more you could want out of these TBOX cars. They've got end platforms, cut levers, air hoses, body mount couplers, metal wheels, brake rigging, excellent plug door detail. Never had a rolling ability or turn radius problem, and naturally no coupler problems either.
