I'm still hoping for a period appropriate tender, especially if they can put sound in it.
Hi all,Tyler from Bachmann R&D here to provide an update on this project and answer/clarify questions. We haven't begun production on this locomotive yet-2024 was our original target deadline, but it was delayed when we found that the prototype we were originally referencing was not large enough to house the motor and decoder. It is still in the design stages and we're hoping to have an engineering sample to show early next year, with delivery in late 2025 or early 2026. We apologize for the delays as we know this has been a highly anticipated locomotive since we first announced it. Trainworld's delivery date is only an estimate/placeholder that they probably haven't updated since we first announced in August 2023.I can say it *will* be a brand new locomotive from the ground up including wheel spacing, siderods, and a brand new, period-accurate scale tender, based primarily on the Union Pacific 1010 prototype we currently show in the catalog- we will have to take some liberties with the other roadnames, but it is based on a true 19th century prototype. It will NOT look anything like the models shown in pmpexpress's post.I'm not sure where the existing 4-6-0 being labeled as a "Mogul" came from, we know it's not a Mogul and don't use that anywhere in our catalog or marketing. I think that was a mistake by a dealer or distributor that somebody copied. The matching old-time passenger cars are an even newer project, we only confirmed to reintroduce them a month before they were announced. Since it's an upgrade of existing models, they shouldn't take as long, but I still wouldn't expect them before late 2025.
Tyler,Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions and clarify the project status.Although the locations of the boiler details (i.e., the bell, domes, and smoke stack) differ, and the cab, pilot, and stack are different, the running gear on your new model should serve my needs for a mechanism for my Clinchfield Number 1 build. As the project is still in the design stage, might I suggest shotgun stacks for your coal fired models and balloon stacks for the wood burners?
@track1 , any chance on am updated 0-6-0 that looks and runs better?
It's something we've discussed and considered, particularly if we were to offer a DCC Sound Version- we would probably follow what we did with our recently released HO Sound Value 0-6-0 and do all/mostly new tooling.
OH PLEASE DO! N scale is in desperate need of steam switchers! And, while the current 0-6-0 is vastly improved over the original issue, it still could use improvement with better electrical pickup, DCC friendliness, heavier (die-cast) boiler, and finer detailing.Thank you!!Jim
